What Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Taught Me
Kuch Kuch Hota has been a very special movie for me. I was 3 years old when I first watched Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. For years, it was the only bollywood movie I was allowed to watch.

Literally it was an every weekend ritual where I would wait for my mom to put the tape in the VCR and get lost in the movie for those three hours, 4 minutes.
These are the things that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has taught me over the years. And yes, I’m proud to say it’s taught me a lot.
Kuch Kuch Hota hai, will always be my I love you.
The most important thing in life is not love. It’s friendship. Friendship with friends, your spouse, your mother, your child, everyone. Being friends in every relationship is the core of everything. Agar woh meri sab say achi dost nahi hosakti, toh main us say pyaar nahi kar sakta.
Life always moves on no matter what. It never stops for anyone, if a dear one dies, it hurts but always remember life will go on with or without them. There will be always to look forward to in life, always.
Being a single parent doesn’t suck. In the same way, having one parent isn’t all that bad. And if your parent is trying to fulfil both the roles in your life, appreciate that and give them the love they deserve. Maa, woh hai jo hum ko itna pyaar karti hai kay kabhi kabhi hum khud us pyaar ko samjh nahi paatay, maa woh hai jo humko ahsaas dilati hai kay hum kitnay achay hai, hum say acha aur koi hai nahi, maa woh hai jis ki khushi humari hasi say hai jis ka dukh humaray dukh say. maa woh hai jis kay bina hum jee nahi saktay, maa sab kuch hai, bus humaray pass hi nahi, lekin humaray pass paapa hai aur woh bhi kaafi achay hai.
Never call your dadi/nani sexy in front of her friends. It would only go downhill from there… Trust me, I’m speaking from experience.
If you ever want to find out about a person is thinking about and they refuse to tell you then play the game with them. The same game that was made famous in Zindagi na Milegi Dobara, yes it first came in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Boys are cheaters. Don’t go crying everytime a boy cheats on you, Anjali warned you that Rahul is a cheater.
If you have a best friend like Anjali, never take her or him for granted. You never know when is the last time you’re seeing them.
Always stalk your crush’s family before you decide to talk to her, you don’t want to insult her father as your first impression.
Never Judge a book by it’s cover. I mean who expected tina to sing Om Jai Jagdeesh. So never base your opinion about a person on their appearance.
Oxford University is in London.
Always remember who you’re kissing, don’t call Sonia, Tania and please for god’s sake hide your friendship bands.
Don’t wait to tell someone you love them. It doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or boy, just say it. You never know when it’s too late.
Don’t try to sneak in your girlfriend’s room by a ladder. Sadly life is not a movie and it won’t work out for you, trust me.
Don’t expect your husband to bow his head in front of you, not everyone’s Rahul.
Don’t try to change yourself for anyone. Always channel your inner anjali and never change. Be yourself and there will be someone in this world that will love you like you are.
It’s okay if your first love doesn’t reach it’s destination. Not every love is supposed to be completed.
Don’t just leave someone hanging and decide to leave them one day. Everyone deserves an answer and an explanation.
Don’t thread your eyebrows, even if it’s your engagement. If that’s what you want.
Always be honest to the hot boy who’s taking interest in you if you still have feelings for someone else. And never pretend to hide your feelings or suppress your feelings in front of your saajan ji.
Don’t run away to summer camp with your dadi, it’s not safe in the real world.
If you see an old friend after a very long time, just go for a hug. Don’t waste time thinking whether to shake hands or stammer while talking.
Don’t wear a saree while playing basketball.
And please if you really loved your ex and for some reason you can’t be with him, stay away. STAY AWAY, you’ll start feeling again. For sure.
Rain is a very sexy thing, makes the best of us weak in the knees.
You can play music by playing the piano in the air.
And don’t expect a boy to be so romantic, lower your expectations now. It’s been 18 years since the movie came out and I’m still searching for a Rahul.
No matter how much you want someone to stay, if they’re not meant to stay they’ll never stay. And if they’re going to stay they will always stay. Tusi Jarahay ho, tusi na jao.
Don’t force yourself into marriage for all the wrong reasons. Marriage needs to be celebrated and should be a happy day for everyone.
Happy endings do exist. Don’t worry, your happy ending might be late but it will come. So wait, give life a chance.
